On Saturday, January 30th, there was tremendous turnout by our members at Momentum Brewhouse in Bonita Springs to start the “Tour of the Everglades” .
Our collection of Porsches revved out at 1pm on our way to the mid point stop in Moore Haven, just west of Lake Okeechobee. This first leg featured everything from interstate to state and county roads. Rural towns like Alva and LaBelle made an appearance as well as the North River Road that parallels the Caloosahatchee River. Amazing how many participants had never driven on some of these roads!
After a quick pit stop, drivers received their second leg driving instructions. This route had our Porsches on a southwest track through sugar cane fields, orange groves and the growing expansion of gated communities. Finally heading back into Estero to University Village near FGCU.
A few fun facts: 60 cars, 110 participants, 150+ miles and one gorgeous day to stretch the legs of our beautiful German cars!
Thanks to Brian Hahn and the Momentum Brewhouse crew for hosting the start. Stay tuned for the next Everglades Region PCA road event in March.
