Porsches & Parking Lots or Coping with Covid

Much has changed in the past 5 months, but not our desire to drive Porsche’s and spend time with fellow PCA members. In that spirit, Everglades Region board members have been testing the water with small, local drive and dines, keeping social distance and wearing masks.
Val & John Petracco kicked things off April 23rd in Fort Myers. Five cars and ten members gathered at the UBS office on Summerlin Lakes Drive. After a short drive to the boat ramp at Punta Rassa, everyone pre-ordered take out. Then it was east to Pizza D-Lux on Daniels Parkway where we circled the Porsches, pulled out our lawn chairs, and enjoyed sunset dining.
In May, Caryl & Dave Noelken took the lead with six cars and twelve members gathering at Momentum Brewhouse in Bonita Springs. After a brief drivers meeting, the group headed southeast to explore the new Logan Boulevard extension that connects Bonita Beach Road to Immokalee Road. Then it was back north to Doug’s Seafood on Bonita Beach Road where everyone enjoyed the fresh catch, socially distanced in the shaded parking lot. After weeks of confinement and separation, it was great to catch-up with everyone. And the lobster rolls were excellent too !
On June 25th, Lucille and Carlos Ojeda hosted a Cars & Cocktails at Dante’s Coal Fired Kitchen in Fort Myers. It was a hot afternoon, so everyone moved in-doors. Respecting social distance, 25 members enjoyed comradery with fellow PCA’ers.
Although regular Everglades Region events are still on-hold, small, informal get-togethers like the these are easy to organize and within covid-19 safety precautions. Stay tuned for similar events in the coming weeks and months.
