Join your Everglades Region – PCA friends for a Sunday drive to the world-renowned Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium in Sarasota on Sunday, January 19th.
Mote is an independent, nonprofit marine research institution comprised of world-class marine scientists committed to the belief that the conservation and sustainable use of our oceans begins with research and education. Their research programs also focus on understanding the population dynamics of manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, sharks and coral reefs and on conservation and restoration efforts related to these species and ecosystems. The starting point is Starbucks Coffee, 3405 Forum Boulevard, Fort Myers (Colonial Boulevard, exit # 136 off I-75). Arrive no later than 9:00am for sign-in and drivers briefing.
On arrival in Sarasota, the tour through the Mote Marine facilities will start promptly at 11:30am. Tour cost is included in your registration fee.
Following the tour, participants will walk to “Old Salty Dog”, a cheery British pub located on the water near Mote Marine for lunch off the menu. Lunch and beverage costs are NOT included in your registration fee. Go To The Old Salty Dog
After lunch, participants have the option to explore St Armand’s Circle, return to Mote Marine for optional (extra cost) activities or start the drive home.
Registration cost is $25 per person.

Join your Porsche friends for a casual Sunday drive to the world-renowned Mote Marine and Aquarium in Sarasota. Our Road Trip will have a maximum of 30 cars. You can register on the EGRPCA Website by January 10th. The cost is $25 pp and includes registration, some fun stuff, and the fee to enter Mote Marine. We’ll meet up in the morning at 9:00 AM at Starbucks in The Forum Shopping Center Parking Lot off Colonial Boulevard in Fort Myers. The address is 3405 Forum Boulevard (Take I-75 to Exit # 136 towards Ft Myers/Lehigh Acres FL 884) then look for the Porsches at Starbucks. Stop for coffee, some social time, etc., and sign the PCA waivers for the Road Trip. At approximately 9:30 we’ll drive up I-75, exiting to Sarasota and St Armand’s Circle to the Mote Marine Lab & Aquarium (1600 Ken Thompson Pkwy). Park at the lot adjacent to Mote. Our tour through the Lab and Aquarium will begin at 11:30 and last about two hours. If you’d like (for an additional small fee) you can immerse yourself in a virtual reality journey that features 360-degree views, sound and movement as you swim with humpback whales and enjoy an animated rollercoaster ride.
At 1:30 or so, after the tour, we’ll walk to the Old Salty Dog, a cheery British Pub located on the water right near Mote Marine. Each person can order off the menu and pay accordingly. Check their website for their menu.
Following lunch, we return home, but those who have not visited Sarasota or St Armand’s Circle in the past, may wish to tour the area and even stay over for the evening.
