Welcome to Everglades Region of the Porsche Club of America

Our region covers most of Southwest Florida including the counties of Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hendry and Lee. We host over 500 members.

The Everglades Region is part of Zone 12 of the PCA and holds much history and strong commitments to PCA. Zone 12 includes 9 regions encompassing most of Florida, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Some of our most notable events include the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring. We are also home to the first PCA Club Race of each year, the 48 Hours of Sebring. You can usually find us at our busiest when the rest of the country is spending their time inside.

The camaraderie in our Region comes from the wonderful people and their dedication to great cars and great events. We encourage the sharing of information and PCA spirit in our Region and have created this website to enrich our communication and experiences with one another.

Okteenerfest 2015 @ Best Western Mountain Lodge
Sep 17 – Sep 20 all-day

This year’s honored model is the 914-6 GT in celebration of the 1-2-3 Marathon de la Route (86 hours of Nürburgring) and other wins in 1970. Whether you have a real -6 GT, an original -6 converted to GT specs, or a -4 “tribute” GT with flares and big tires, they are all welcome at Okteenerfest. Join other 914 owners in their more mundane versions of Porsche’s street-legal go-kart for some fantastic driving, plenty of socializing, a bit of showing off, and a truckload of give-aways.

After two years being held in the Smokies of east Tennessee, we have moved the event east into the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. There are so many awesome roads in this region it would take days to drive them all. We have selected a route for Friday’s day drive that includes not only a ton of twisties, sweepers, and ear-popping elevation changes but plenty of stopping points to get out, stretch, and enjoy the scenic splendor of the mountains.

With this new location, we hope our friends from west of the Mississippi will still join us while at the same time bringing in new attendees from north and east. If you have not been to an Okteenerfest in the past, mark this one on your calendar. With a growth of over 65% in both attendees and 914s present from 2013 to 2014, we expect 2015 to be HUGE!

In addition to the driving, Okteenerfest will feature plenty of good eating, an awards ceremony, tons of give-aways from the most awesome vendors, a Peoples Choice Car Show, and some of the nicest people you will ever meet gathered in a single place.

Rennsport Reunion V
Sep 25 – Sep 27 all-day

01/23/2015 Rennsport Reunion dates have been changed to 09/25-27/2015.

https://www.pca.org/news/2014-10-09/official-rennsport-reunion-v-be-held-laguna-seca-october-2015

Dear PCA Members,

It’s official: Rennsport Reunion V will be held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on October 9-11 next year, according to Porsche Cars North America (PCNA), four years after the fourth installment of the world-renowned Porsche festival.

PCA.org Rennsport Reunion V post

Rennsport V is expected to attract hundreds of vintage and modern Porsche race cars, “as well as those who have designed, engineered, and driven them to victory in the world’s most famous sports car races,” PCNA states. Like Rennsports before it, number five will consist of three days of vintage racing, a Concours d’Elegance, and activities celebrating each of six decades of Porsche race cars — all crash courses of Porsche history.

And if you just want to watch fast Porsche metal racing on a world-famous race track, then prepare to whet your appetite with race-prepped 356s, mid-engined 550 Spyders, 718 RSKs, 917s, 956/962s, GT3 RSRs, RS Spyders, and so many more.

“While the Rennsport name from the beginning has become a staple fixture for international collectors and racers, choosing the Monterey Peninsula opened up this one-of-a-kind gathering to the many Porsche fans in California and beyond who were previously unable to attend,” said Detlev von Platen, President and Chief Executive Officer of Porsche Cars North America. “Approximately 40,000 spectators for the weekend, and a record number of race cars and participants, proved that our decision to come here was correct.” To put that number into context, compare it to the roughly 3,500 tickets sold for 2007’s Rennsport III at Daytona International Speedway.

As with Rennsport IV, which attracted around 1,300 Porsche Club of America member-owned Porsches, according to PCNA, Rennsport V is expected to have a similarly huge turnout of members and their Porsches, filling race classes, show fields, and parking lots at the race track. It’s the perfect way to finish PCA’s year-long 60th anniversary celebration.

The first Rennsport Reunion was held in 2001 at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut, followed by the second and third at Daytona International Speedway in 2004 and 2007, and the fourth at Laguna Seca in 2011. All the while, the festival was growing exponentially, with tens of thousands more attendees flooding Laguna Seca for Rennsport IV compared to Rennsport III, which sold 3,500 tickets. Due to the success of the last event, we would have been surprised if Rennsport V weren’t in the books — and indeed there have been grumblings about a fifth, though time and place were unknown until today.

Porsche Club of America is an official Rennsport Reunion V partner, so look to our website and social media channels for official updates and information in the coming year.

Sincerely,

Damon Lowney

Everglades Autocross at Buckingham
Sep 27 all-day

Hope you are having a great summer, “cooling it” in a northern climate or basking in the calm of a SW Florida summer!

We’re pleased to announce our fourth Everglades Region autocross event of the year, this one is scheduled for September 27th at Buckingham Airfield in Lehigh Acres. The course has already been designed and should be a fun, yet very challenging circuit. Tim Aro (from Solo Pro and past National Champion) worked with Tom Kring on the layout, while giving feedback on new course design ideas for the EXTREME Solo Pro School. For those of you who participated in our EXTREME school in April, you will recognize some of the elements. This course will heavily test every aspect of your driving skills, but at the same time be easy to follow for novices.

A big thanks to Porsche of Naples and Porsche of Ft Myers for once again sponsoring this event. With their support, we are able to offer Everglades Region members a reduced entry fee of $20 if you register before August 15th.

To signup, go to Clubregistration.net and search on Everglades to find the event. All entries must be done in advance through ClubRegistration.net. The gates will open at 8am and first car will go on track at 9:45

We hope to see you September 27th at Buckingham!
